Brow Feathering Maintenance

Eyebrow feathering is a cosmetic procedure that uses a fine blade to fill sparse brows by giving the appearance of life-like individual hairs. It is also known as micro feathering, feather touch brows and feather tattoo eyebrows. Fear not; it’s not nearly as frightening as it appears: The tiny hair stroke penetrates the epidermis’s superficial layers (i.e. implanted into the top layer of skin only, similar to a superficial paper cut ). Pigment colour is gently implanted into the fine, hair-like incisions resembling actual brow hair. The result is semi-permanent, soft, gap-free brows that look very natural and hair-like. Who wouldn’t be intrigued by that?

What is the difference between microfeathering and microblading?

A Microblade is a tool used to create brow feathering. Microblading and micro feathering create hair strokes and sculpted arches with more fullness in thin and over-plucked brows. We enhance the brows’ natural shape, focusing on creating fine hair strokes to fill brow gaps for a realistic, fluffy appearance. Brow feathering enhances your existing brows and during the process, we can enhance your natural brow shape creating the illusion of a fuller, more shapely, defined brow.

Is Brow Feathering uncomfortable?

You can apply a topical numbing cream to the brow area before the treatment, this is readily available from a Compound Pharmacy over the counter. Once the skin is penetrated additional numbing cream is again applied during the process and most people are quite comfortable during the process. The blade scraping sound on your skin, which sounds very much the same as scratching your scalp is what most people find uncomfortable because you know it is happening but generally, you feel minimal discomfort.

The application procedure

Grow your brows out as much as possible before your first eyebrow feathering in Melbourne. Avoid tweezing/waxing for at least 6-8 weeks; we like to see all your brow hair growth, this allows the Brow Artist to see your hair growth and what hair we have to work with, we try and include as much of your natural brow hair as possible to create your new brows.

When you arrive for your appointment we begin by first taking ‘before’ photos, we then map your brows. Mapping is CRUCIAL and this takes approx 45 minutes (in some cases longer). We aim to achieve the best visual symmetry on your relaxed face, we are creating brows with hair strokes on the skin, you still have muscle movement/expression that moves the brows, and we are tattooing the skin that overlays the muscle. Muscle engagement gives your face expression which moves the brows, hence muscles move the overlaying skin where the brows have been feathered altering your brow symmetry.  To prevent muscle movement, injectables are required.

followed by selecting the dye’s ideal colour match by your brow stylist. Over the next two hours, the incisions and the dye will be applied. Excellence cannot be rushed!
